Sparks police have found and identified both vehicles that witnessed Tuesday's fatal motorcycle crash.

Both drivers were interviewed and are cooperating with the investigation.

Original Story, September 27:

On Tuesday, at approximately 6:38 a.m. Sparks Police, Sparks Fire, and REMSA responded to the report of a single motorcycle crash in the 900 block of Victorian Avenue.

The area was shut down as teams responded.

Sparks Fire and REMSA personnel attempted lifesaving measures but ultimately the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The rider has been identified as a 35-year-old man named Robert Ortiz.

Through the officers' investigation and interviews with witnesses, officers learned Ortiz was traveling westbound on Victorian from Pyramid at a high rate of speed.

Ortiz failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and struck a curb causing the motorcycle and Ortiz to become airborne.  Ortiz was ejected from the motorcycle before coming to rest on the concrete shoulder.

Members of the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and took over the investigation which remains active.

Sparks Police have identified two vehicles that witnessed the crash and are asking for the public assistance to identify the owners and speak to the drivers.

The first vehicle is an early 2000’s blue colored Dodge 4 door truck with chrome wheels.

The second vehicle is an early 2000’s single cab white Chevy pickup with a black lumber rack and a toolbox in the bed of the truck.
